When the latest generation Hyundai Elantra appeared in 2011, it showcased the Korean automakers brand-new Fluidic Sculpture design and made everyone take a serious second look at the manufacturer and what they were bringing to the compact-car segment. Since then, the Elantra has seen minimal changes and/or upgrades, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Once you’ve taken in the flowing, sculpted lines, LED headlights/taillights, and overall youthful, sporty design of the 2015 Hyundai Elantra exterior (in both body styles: sedan and GT), you’ll want to check out the interior, which is loaded with amenities and creature comforts you’d probably not expect to find in this price bracket or segment.
Of note: In the summer of 2014, Hyundai announced they would no longer be selling the Hyundai Elantra Coupe due to a lack of interest and sales in the body style. So, while you can still purchase a 2014 model, for 2015 the coupe body style is no longer available.
Features such as air conditioning, heated front seats, SiriusXM satellite radio, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power door locks and windows, Bluetooth, and remote keyless entry are all standard on the GL models, which start at under $20k. Of course, that’s not your only option as there are no less than 9 models to choose from across the Elantra lineup (sedan/GT).
Jump up in trim level to the SE/Limited and you’ll find such amenities as a 7” high-resolution touchscreen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats, push-button start, and a 360-Watt stereo with six speakers and external amp. Despite all the added luxuries, the price of a top-trim 2015 Hyundai Elantra won’t skip above the $30k mark (base MSRP).
Regardless of body style or trim choice, the Hyundai Elantra comes equipped with the same engine across the board: a 2.0L GDI 4-cylinder that produces 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices reside in a 6-speed manual (standard on all base L models), and a 6-speed automatic. Power is sent to the front wheels across the board.
The 2015 Hyundai Elantra is the ideal vehicle for someone in the market for an affordable, well-appointed compact car. Very well equipped even in base trim, the Elantra is modern in its design and amenities, appealing to a large demographic of buyers.
