Previously known as simply the Santa Fe, Hyundai’s CUV tacked on the “Sport” moniker when the Korean manufacturer launched the third generation in 2013 along with a longer wheelbase version, the Santa Fe XL, with room for seven passengers. The addition of Sport in the vehicle’s name did nothing to improve or change its sportiness on the road. Despite that, the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is a dynamic CUV ideal for urban families.

With room for five passengers, the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is the ideal urbanite offering up choices such as cloth or leather seats, an optional 8” navigation unit with a 10-speaker Infinity audio system, rear heated and sliding seats, Bluetooth, and Satellite radio. The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has something for everyone, and an amenity for every need, it would seem. And those in need of more interior seating need only look to the Santa Fe XL.

In terms of model choice, the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has that covered too with eight to choose from, as well as FWD and AWD variants.

With two engines available, the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is powerful and efficient with either mill. The non-turbocharged 2.4L GDI Theta II 4-cyl mill pushes out 190 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque — more than enough to get the job done and ensure highway merges are effortless, and that some fun can be had behind the wheel.

If it’s a little spool you want in your life, then there’s always the 2.0L Turbo-GDI Theta II 4-cylinder that produces 265 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Of note: the turbocharged unit is only available in AWD Santa Fe Sport models. Regardless of engine choice, only one transmission is on offer to handle all the power; a 6-speed Electronic automatic with SHIFTRONIC manual mode.

The real attraction with Hyundai’s latest crop of vehicles, which includes the 2015 Santa Fe Sport, is the list of standard features their vehicles come with in base trim. Amenities such as air conditioning, heated front seats, Bluetooth hands-free, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and even 17” alloy wheels, and trailer tow pre-wiring.

Along with plenty of interior space (just over 1,000 litres), the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport also features another family-friendly feature: YES Essential Cloth. This particular fabric is standard on all models with cloth seating, and provides Santa Fe Sport owners with anti-odor, anti-static, and stain-resistant properties. Parents take note!
