Voted 2015 Best New Family Car by AJAC members across this great nation, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata is more than just a midsize sedan. It’s sure to become a part of the family and everything you do thanks to its practical design and fun-to-drive nature.

Now in its seventh generation, the Hyundai Sonata is synonymous with efficiency and, more recently, well-built motoring and reliability. Hyundai wasn’t always at the top of the list for those in the market for an affordable vehicle; however, the past few years have seen a turnaround for the Korean automaker that all started with the brand new Hyundai Accent in 2011.

Since then, the rebirth of Hyundai has been exponential, and more recently punctuated with the launch of the brand new 2015 Hyundai Sonata, which carries over design traits from the also newly-designed Hyundai Genesis. Said design traits exude an air of confidence and refinement on the road, along with a modern edge that also gives the Sonata a youthful appeal.

That young, hip feel continues inside the cabin where you’ll find such amenities as air conditioning, power windows and door locks, heated front seats (even in the base model), tilt and telescopic steering wheel, rearview camera (also on the base model), Bluetooth handsfree, satellite radio, keyless entry, steering-wheel mounted controls, and a 5”-8” touchscreen (depending on trim level chosen) navigation system.

Speaking of trim levels, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata offers no less than seven to choose from. From the GL to the Ultimate 2.0T, each Sonata offers a range of creature comforts and one of two engines: a 2.4L Theta II GDI 4-cylinder mill good for 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, and a Twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0L DOHC I4 GDI, which produces 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque (only available on the Sport 2.0 and 2.0T Ultimate models). Regardless of model choice, there is only one transmission available; a 6-speed electronic automatic with SHIFTRONIC manual mode. All power is sent to the front wheels across the lineup.

Not only is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata stylish, comfortable, and a blast to drive, but it’s also safe. The Sonata features seven airbags, anti-whiplash front head restraints, as well as LATCH lower anchors and upper tether anchors for infant and child seats. Active safety features include Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, which are standard across all models. Optional safety equipment includes Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning System, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is a well-rounded, modernized family sedan that’ll keep your spirit young as your family grows up. Fuel efficient (averaging between 8.4L and 9.1L/100km combined across the lineup), practical, and affordable, the Sonata offers everything you’d want in a midsize sedan, and more.
