The Hyundai Veloster has always been one of the more unique models out on the road. With its three-door configuration, powerful turbo engine, efficient entry-level engine and sporty dynamics, the Veloster managed to attract a fair number of buyers who wanted to stand out on the road. Now, Hyundai is back at it with the 2019 Hyundai Veloster, a vehicle that certainly shines in a variety of ways while staying true to the original model’s DNA.

A retuned 2019 Hyundai Veloster introduced in Detroit

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster was introduced to the world a few weeks ago at the North American International Auto Show. We expect it to arrive in early spring 2018 with a choice of two engines, an entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. This engine is the fuel-efficient option, especially thanks to its Atkinson Cycle which makes it very good at the pump.

Next up is the powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine which delivers 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired out of the gate with a six-speed manual, or you can opt for a sporty dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox. The six-speed manual is available also on the 2.0-liter engine, but that one gets a six-speed automatic if you choose to have the car change gears for you.

The most powerful Veloster yet, the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N

The engines described above were already available on the previous-generation Hyundai Veloster, so there is no real news there. They will still provide buyers with a ton of fun behind the wheel while also being fuel-efficient. That said, the real news is without question the new 2019 Hyundai Veloster N.

Using a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the all-new Veloster N – the first Hyundai model to bear the N letter in North America – will offer 275 horsepower and an impressive 260 pound-feet of torque at just 1,450 rpm. There will be a wide range of driving modes as well that allow the driver to choose how his or her Veloster N behaves out on the road including Normal, Sport, Eco, N and N Custom. The last two modes, as you may have guessed, are for buyers who want to get the most out of their Veloster N.
